A vivid chuckle
A sparkle in the eye
A smile of innocence
Betimes a tearful cry
The joy on my face
Was clear and pure
Undiluted by motives
Impeccant for sure
But as time passed by
The artlessness faded
Everything had a motive
With selfishness cascaded
I started to smile
When others were hurt
The devil had taken over
And made me a pervert
But slowly I began to realize
The change in me
The transformation in myself
I could now see
And now I want to be that child again
How I wish I could
Get back to those smiles and giggles
Get back to my childhood
